The Marian M. Hunter History Room

Through mutual agreement with the Avon Free Public Library, Avon Historical Society dedicated the Marian M. Hunter History Room on February 4, 1989. Currently located in the Library Board Room, it is named in honor of Marian M. Hunter, long-time librarian and historian of Avon. Staffed by Society Volunteers and chaired by Virginia Vocelli.

Researchers and interested residents may find information on the general history of the town, original old homes and buildings in Avon, and genealogies of original families. The collection includes photographs, postcards, scrapbooks, maps, deeds, and other pieces of memorabilia. The first library for the town of Avon is a "must see."

Open every Tuesday from 2-4pm.  Call for an appointment, call the library at 673-9712.  Avon Free Public Library

Avon Historical Society and Avon Free Public Library held an extremely well-attended Historic Home Owner Event in the History Room in late September 2010. Many visitors were impressed to find how much research was already available regarding their historic homes.
